Chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) alternating with vinyl ether copolymer. C-F bond energy 485 kJ/mol. Best room-temperature cure weathering resinin.

Chemical Structure

[-CF₂-CFCl-CH₂-CH(OR)-]ₙ
CTFE units strictly alternate with vinyl ether units. Main chain embeds hydroxyl groups for Curing Agent reaction.

Fluorine content 28-30%, C-F bond energy 485 kJ/mol, much higher than 300nm UV photon energy (~400 kJ/mol), Main chain not broken.

FEVE-OH + OCN-R-NCO → FEVE-O-CO-NH-R-NH-CO-O-FEVE

Cures at room temperature with HDI trimer; can also bake-cure with blocked isocyanate (coil).
